WernerCo has joined forces with TGS Automotive Services to support the UK’s Test and Trace programme by supplying Youngman ladders to a fleet of converted mobile testing vans.
The vehicles have doubled the existing fleet of Test and Trace Mobile Testing Units (MTUs) to significantly increase the testing capacity to help identify COVID-19 amongst asymptomatic patients.
TGS was tasked with providing and delivering 500 specially adapted MTUs for the department of Health and Social Care within five months. As part of the project 1,000 ladders were required to be equipped onboard for workers and volunteers to easily and safely access the awnings fitted, which allow for drive through testing.
The vans, which will be used all around the country, have significantly increased the asymptomatic testing capabilities to curb the spread of COVID-19. The vehicles have already been used for surge testing operations as well as providing Lateral Flow Tests for schools and airports, such as Heathrow and Gatwick.
Paul Lycett, National Account Manager for WernerCo, commented: “This was a huge undertaking for both TGS and us. Many of us will see these vans on the road and we’re proud that WernerCo will be there on the front line supporting the Test and Trace workers and volunteers.”
