John Barclay, UK Sales Director at Neomitis, explains some of the production and supply methods that proudly demonstrate the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

Neomitis is a specialist in controls and heating products for residential and small office environments. Our product range covers thermostats, programmers, timers, electric radiators and towel rails, for new build or renovation applications. Our products are designed and developed by us in France and the UK.

We provide our services and products to customers consisting of electrical equipment distributors, installation companies and private developers. Neomitis is part of the AXENCO group: a French group consisting of several companies vertically integrated and aligned with the same mission: to enable the greatest number of people to optimise ambient comfort whilst reducing their energy bills!

Environmental sustainability

Since the AXENCO Group is dedicated to creating comfortable environments, we are intrinsically concerned with the issues of environmental sustainability, improving energy efficiency, reducing waste and finding affordable of solutions. In this context, the aim of our innovation is to generate savings in the areas of energy and equipment utilisation (by means of energy use gauges, occupancy detectors etc.) and our products are designed to be affordable for all budgets. But, because we are first of all a company on a human scale, where people work together with a common project and common values, we apply our values to our daily routines and supply chain.

Simple and actionable principles

We prefer to do business with suppliers which have an effective environmental policy, one which is formally set out and is responsible. At the very least, we ensure that suppliers do indeed comply with their legal obligations regarding the environment.

We optimise the loading of our trucks in order to reduce the environmental footprint of product transport.
 We solely use recyclable materials for palletisation. As far as possible we use cardboard for packaging (instead of plastic) and avoid polystyrene where possible.

• We regularly carry out value analyses in order to keep the materials we use to a strict minimum. We also carry out an impact study before we start using a new consumable component as part of our production process.
• We favour the choice of recyclable materials, with low environmental impacts:
• = The oil used in our radiators does not contain any additives which are harmful to the environment.
• = We have reduced the amount of glycol in the mixture used in our towel rails. 
One of the production sites we use is already certified ISO14001, a second has begun the accreditation procedure, and a third complies with the main requirements of the standard.
• We sort and recover waste in all our manufacturing sites (aluminium, steel, plastic, electronics, cardboard).
• We apply a strict recycling waste policy in our production sites to prevent any risk of pollution: Special facilities (e.g. holding tanks and local decontamination resources) are dedicated to operations relating to fluids, during storage and during the course of production processes.

These actions exceed the requirements set out by regulations (i.e., the RoHS Directive and WEEE Directives) in terms of product development and manufacturing. It is our belief that each and every one amongst us understand, deploy and own these principles and actions, on a daily basis – because they are part of who we are and what we do.
